How To Spend Great Outdoors Month In Utah

June is Great Outdoors Month and Utah has to be one of the best places in the U.S. to celebrate. 

The U.S. Census Bureau has a 2016 survey that shows just how much the nation's residents (16 and older) enjoy the outdoors. This could be in the form of fishing, hiking, hunting, or anything else that happens in the great wilds. The bureau is working on a new National Survey of Hunting, Fishing, and Wildlife-Associate Recreation which is expected to come out this summer.  

“The 2016 National Survey of Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife-Associated Recreation revealed that over 103 million U.S. residents 16 years and older participated in wildlife-related recreation. During that year, 35.8 million people fished, 11.5 million hunted, and 86.0 million participated in at least one type of wildlife-watching activity including observing, feeding, or photographing fish and other wildlife in the United States.” --U.S. Census Bureau  

Utah offers several locations for outdoors lovers to choose from with gorgeous scenery and adventurous trails.  

Places To Visit in Utah This June: 

Zion National Park 

Located in Southern Utah, this national park is made for hikers. There are a ton of hiking trails that range from beginner to expert. So even if this isn’t your usual cup of tea, you’ll find a place to enjoy yourself. Thousands of people visit every year and there are photos all over the internet to prove it. Whether it’s an overly friendly squirrel or a California Condor, it’s safe to say the park has a reputation for abundant wildlife.  

Strawberry Reservoir  

This one is the Utah anglers. If you’re looking to get out of Southern Utah heat, this will be the place to visit this June. Hand out in Strawberry Bay and fish for trout with lodging available for overnight trips. Hunters will also enjoy hanging out here for upland and big game. Strawberry Reservoir is located in Heber. 

Devils Garden Campground 

Camp in Arches National Park in Moab and wake up to a beautiful backdrop. Not only is this a great camping spot but during the day there are awesome natural formations to hike to and take pictures of. You’ll want to make your reservations as soon as possible as the campground has limited availability and is a popular spot.  

There are way too many spots to recommend as Utah is an "outdoors state" and its residents love their recreation, especially in national parks.
