Have A Frightening Christmas With Krampus
Tis the season... for Krampus.
According to Britannica.com, Krampus is a central European legend that punishes misbehaving children at Christmastime.
Krampus, the half goat half demon monster, is the companion of St. Nicholas and is believed to have originated in Germany.
Krampus is thought to have been part of pagan rituals for the winter solstice and according to legend is the son of Hel, the Norse god of the underworld.
Krampus and St. Nicholas are said to arrive on the evening of December 5th and while St. Nicholas rewards nice children by leaving presents, Krampus is said to beat naughty children with branches and sticks.
Krampus celebrations include the Krampus Run, which includes alcohol and people dressed as Krampus parading through the streets.
Krampus has become such a big part of pop culture; he got his own horror film in 2015 called Krampus.
