It was nearing 7 p.m. and Policy Kings was nearly full as Cedar City residents filed in to meet the city’s newest city council candidate.

Policy King’s co-owner Sarah Ridgel declared her candidacy earlier this month and tonight was the night to ask questions of the new candidate.

Sarah described the reasons she wanted to run for city council including a desire to create affordable housing, focus on the small business of Cedar City, and her desire to see Cedar City become a welcoming community to diversity.

Sarah also talked about her background. She’s from Parowan, is a Southern Utah University graduate, and has worked with non-profit organizations and the homeless population. She also talked about her experience as a mom and a small business owner in the community.

Once everyone had asked their questions, people were given the opportunity to sign up to volunteer for the campaign and get donation information.

To find out more about her campaign, you can follow her campaign Instagram account here and Facebook account here.

I’d also like to note that I’ll be reaching out to the other candidates to see if they have upcoming meet-and-greet events that they would like covered.
