Ale You’ll Need To Have Fun This Summer
Policy Kings has been a part of Cedar City since 2016. Since then, they’ve begun hosting more and more events at their location.
Several pictures of the Policy Kings location will be included in this piece along with pictures from the Policy Kings brewhouse. Policy Kings co-owner Sarah Ridgel was kind enough to take me on a tour of their brewhouse and allowed me to take pictures. The entire brewing process is fascinating.
From the Smithsonian Magazine archeologist Patrick McGovern "Has identified the world’s oldest known barley beer (from Iran’s Zagros Mountains, dating to 3400 B.C.), the oldest grape wine (also from the Zagros, circa 5400 B.C.) and the earliest known booze of any kind, a Neolithic grog from China’s Yellow River Valley brewed some 9,000 years ago. So, beer is a drink that has been a part of people’s lives for a very long time and there are several different types. The ale types include Pale Ale, Real Ale, and Mild Ale. There are also Stouts, Lambic, and Lager.
Policy Kings has two large events coming up this summer. The first is a Juneteenth celebration and the second is their fifth annual Beerfest.
June 19th they'll once again host a Juneteenth celebration from 2-6 pm. If you’re not familiar with Juneteenth, the holiday commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. You can read more about Juneteenth here. Policy King's celebration will include live music, a DJ, dancing, and food. It is an all-ages event.
Since Policy King’s Juneteenth celebration will be the same day as the Cedar City Railroad Centennial Celebration, they’ll be making a special beer for the occasion.
On July 22nd Policy Kings will be hosting their fifth annual Beerfest from 3-9 pm. Beerfest will include other Utah breweries along with vendors, live music, and games, and will also include a special appearance from Delorean from Back to the Future. Beerfest is also an all-ages event. If you think you might be interested, you can get tickets at the link here.
